I have an inner voice, a voice that is sometimes difficult to block out, a voice i want to shout out at, to tell it to go away and leave me alone...a negative whisper, telling me i can't do this...

...I also have an "outer" inner voice, shouting out that "life" is calling me, telling me i can do this, that this is what i'm meant to do, that i'm clever, talented and lovely...

As you know i'm excited beyond belief at getting the planning permission for my shop, i know it's going to be great. I (we) have worked so hard, under extreme duress too, to get where we are now, and the mist is, at last, starting, to clear.

I found these photos on some blogs that i've been following, i hope my ideas for the vintage part of the shop look this spetacular.

We have gorgeous old bottles dug up from a victorian landfill, they need a good clean but i can just see them in the shop decorated with pretty flowers and pearls and beads.


These shelves in this photo are filled with such interesting things and displayed beautifully, i often despair at whether i have the ability to achieve this sort of "interestingness".

We've have everything you see in all these lovely photos, the antique jars and bottles, the vintage cutlery, tins, fabric, lace. book, trugs, troughs, beads, buttons, watch faces as well as some stunning art, jewellery and contemporary gifts - we've picked our stock carefully and

I just hope i can achieve this look.

Indigo Moon

That's the name of our shop! I like it, unfortunately, we had to make a very quick decision over about a day and a half because the planning department needed the "sign" design. This is the front of the shop and the house. The door on the far left will be the shop door, it has yet to be lowered about six inches to comply with the DDA, and a new victorian glass fronted door will be put in and the shop sign will habg down just to the right of the door between the door anf the second floor window...it's all we're allowed to have because of listed building regs, Cadw and conservation area rules!!!. The right hand door goes into the residential part of the house

This is one of the dressers we bought ages ago and painted up for a shop fitting. it looks stunning. The top is a bit messy with plaster dust at the moment...everything needs a good wipe down. This is the other dresser, it's since been painted as well and looks really good. It's drying at the moment so i'll post a photo tomorrow.

We got this last week, it's modern but we thought it might make a nice fitting. I think it would look stunning painted white, but Gav thinks it'll be too much white.

This is our favourite piece of furniture. We picked up this dresser from Potters for about £3. I love all the curves on it and the art deco style, and i especially love the feet.

These we got from the auction for a small amount of money, they're going up on the wall, they're so decorative.

Update on Shop

We finally got our planning permission through last week and can open the shop,

we're jumping for joy!!!

There is still so much to think about, the shop area at the moment looks like a junk shop, with fittings everywhere and the mess on the floor from the plastering is soul destroying. I've started to clean it all up off the carpet, but it's like peeing in the wind! The electricians have been in, what a complication that was! They were really baffled, the wiring was bizarre and some of it quite dangerous, they weren't best pleased or very complimentary about the workmanship, Gav and I stayed quiet!!! So...now we have the most fantastic lighting throughout the shop.

The whole shop area was painted over the weekend with the help of Gav's parents, so now it's all a gorgeous bright white colour. There's still work to do regarding the door and disability access, (it has to be lowered to pavement level), but that's sceduled in for next week.

In the meantime, i'll be cleaning and wiping all the fittings down and planning where it will all go.

So, my next blog will be some nice progress photos.

Finished Fabric Bracelets/Cuffs

These are the finished Bracelets/Cuffs with all the embellishments, i'm so pleased with them, i thought they looked quite good for a first try and for someone who'd never used a sewing machine.

Beautiful and Sad

I found this amongst some of my art boxes that i was unpacking. I made it ages ago, it's tiny, an old ring box...about and inch and a half square. It decorated my dressing table for a while and i'd forgotten where i'd put it.
